Helio, a captive management and risk consulting services company with offices in Dallas, Oklahoma City, Jacksonville, and Kansas City has announced the key industry hire of Jesse Olsen as Chief Operating Officer.
“Jesse comes to Helio with 18 years of experience in captive and risk finance,” said Blake Kerr, chief executive of Helio. “His primary focus will be to design and implement business strategies, processes, and systems. In overseeing operations, he will guide client services, analyze expansion activities, and manage relationships with industry partners.”
“I’m really excited to be part of Helio and look forward to contributing to the firm’s growth,” said Olsen. “It was clear Blake, Heather, Kyle, and I share a similar vision for how to deliver best-in-class advice and service to current and prospective captive owners. There is incredible opportunity in this industry as captives and related risk financing strategies continue to disrupt the conventional paradigm of how to manage risk.”
Olsen was most recently at Strategic Risk Solutions, where spent six years in the Advisers consulting practice group. Jesse led numerous feasibility studies, formed dozens of captives, and delivered ongoing services such as underwriting and consulting. He was primarily responsible for developing the firms’ captive strategic planning service.
Heather McClure, Helio’s General Counsel & Chief Risk Officer said, “We are thrilled to have Jesse join Helio. We crossed paths many times on the speaking and teaching circuit over the years. It is clear to me Jesse shares a similar vision for delivering best-in-class service and consulting to current and prospective captive owners.”
Prior to SRS, Olsen was with Lockton for 12 years, rising to Practice Leader of Lockton Texas’s Specialty Risk Services, overseeing multiple teams delivering captive consulting, credit & collateral negotiation, actuarial & data analytics, and risk control & claims services. Jesse began his career in investment banking on Wall Street.
“As I move to this incredible new role, I have many reasons to be thankful,” Olsen reflected. “First and foremost are the relationships with the fantastic people in this industry, which have provided extraordinary experiences and opportunities to learn. I am delighted to take this next step and look forward to being part of the growing use of captives.”
